OSCEOLA MILLS – A bridge dedication ceremony took place today in Rush Township, honoring the memory of Lance Cpl. Michael B. Segich, a Vietnam War veteran who made the ultimate sacrifice for his country. The bridge, located on Curtin Street and authorized through Act 17 of 2023, will now bear the name of Lance Cpl. Michael P. Segich.

Speaking at the dedication, Rep. Dallas Kephart emphasized the significance of the signage on the bridge, stating, "The signs placed on Curtin Street today will help us all reflect on Lance Cpl. Segich’s service and sacrifice. The Lance Cpl. Michael P. Segich Memorial Bridge is just a mile from the 18-year-old’s final resting place in Umbria Cemetery."

Fellow representative, Rep. Scott Conklin, praised Segich's service, saying, “This young man from Stumptown served his nation with honor, tenacity and leadership. These are aspirational attributes we can remember as we cross this bridge in Osceola Mills.”

Curtin Street, also known as Pa. Route 3049, is a well-traveled road used by approximately 2,300 motorists daily. Lance Cpl. Michael B. Segich enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1969 and bravely served in Vietnam with the Force Logistical Command, 1st Military Police Battalion, 1st Force Service Regiment, B Company in Quang Nam.

The dedication of the Lance Cpl. Michael P. Segich Memorial Bridge stands as a lasting tribute to a young hero who gave his life in service of his country.
